
Savvy Travel Best in Travel 2023 Flyer
OBJECTIVE: Design a flyer for Savvy that attracts their ideal, upper-middle-class customers who love travelling
SOFTWARE: InDesign
PROCESS: Savvy Travel’s brand focused on providing travellers with authentic experiences. Their ideal customer was willing to pay a little bit more than the average person, but in order to explore rather than to experience luxury.
When I was approached to make flyers for them, I wanted to show the sensible side of their customers while also showing the excitement and fun. The left side displays the sensible, with the brand information and paragraph text, while the right displays the excitement through bold but specific details.
While working in InDesign, I love to try and think of what information I absolutely need people to take away from it, so I know what to emphasize. From there, I weigh the importance with how big/long the text is and the space I have. For example, “Best in Travel 2023” is definitely important information, but “Jordan” and “Learn” are more essential details that are shorter and therefore easier to emphasize. As well, since most people looking for authentic experiences and willing to spend money are seasoned travellers, it felt vital to emphasize the place, as well as what it won Best in Travel for, to advertise an experience.
As for the circles, I loved the idea of type following the curve of a shape to represent the journey of travellers. Lastly, I thought a fun detail would be for the category text to blend with the block of colour, and that it would also add some cohesion between the two sides.
REFLECTION: From this project, I got the chance to go out of my comfort zone as before this, I wasn’t much of a traveller. I got to learn a lot about the experience and what it means to others, and now I find myself much more interested in travelling.
